DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTHY COMPOUNDS BASED ON POLYPHENOLS

Polyphenols are one of the most large and extensive families of natural products of vegetal origin. They come from the secondary metabolism of plants and have many healthy properties that are of great interest today.

Our research group is involved in the Project “Tecnologías innovadoras para el desarrollo de nuevos productos saludables a base de polifenoles (INNOFENOL)” whose main goal is the study of the healthy properties of the natural polyphenols from olive-tree and their synthetic analogues. In this consortium several companies, Bionanoplus, Quantum Experimental, Elaborados Dietéticos (Eladiet) and Natac Biotech, which acts as leader, and two other academic groups belonging to the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología of CSIC and Complutense University of Madrid are involved.

The project is supported by the Spanish MINECCO, which will provide a subvention of € 472.614,90 and a loan of 1.562.719,72 €, and the period of execution is 2012-2015.
