The team is involved in the research line " Nucleosides and Analogues as a source of bioactive molecules". Research on nucleosides and analogues is an extremely active area in the field of Medicinal Chemistry, since these are chemical entities with marked activity in several therapeutic areas such as the chemotherapy of cancer and viral diseases, AIDS among them. More recently, the team also develops several projects that involve heterocycles, carbohydrates, hypermodified nucleosides and peptides. Most of the research is performed in a wide network of international collaborations in Spain, Europe, and the USA with top-laboratories with complementary expertise.
