Peptide Secondary Structure Mimetics

The search for non-proteinogenic amino acids and dipeptide surrogates, able to mimic or to induce particular secondary structures in peptide fragments involved in peptide-protein and protein-protein interactions, is one of our research lines. The development of different chemical scaffolds for inducing ß and γ reverse turns, successfully applied in the design of bioactive peptide analogues, and our ongoing work on fixing ß hairpin and α helical conformations in peptide sequences present in protein-protein interfaces are among our current tasks.
