     Francisco Sánchez-Sancho, PhD

Research Scientist since 2008 at the Medicinal Chemistry Institute of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (IQM-CSIC). Over 20 years of experience in research, both in academia and in the pharmaceutical industry. Degree in Chemistry (Organic) (1992, UAM, Madrid) and PhD degree in Organic Chemistry (1999, CSIC-UAM, Madrid). Predoctoral stay at the Dyson Perrins Laboratory (1996, Oxford University). Postdoctoral researcher for a European project (1999-2001, Carlos-Haya Hospital / University of Malaga). Seven years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry (2001-2008 PharmaMar SA, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, R&D).

Research experience: Organic Chemistry, Asymmetric Synthesis, Medicinal Chemistry, nanomolecular systems, natural products, drug discovery, process development, lead optimization, management of multiple scientific projects and research teams, etc. More than 40 contributions to internationally recognized journals, electronic Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis, scientific communications to national and international meetings, supervisor of 2 PhD Thesis and more than 10 Master and undergraduate theses, inventor of five patents of compounds with antitumor properties, participation in >20 research projects funded by different public and private entities.

Teaching experience: Professor of the subject of Medical Chemistry in the University Master of Organic Chemistry of the UAM, years 2012 and 2014-2016. Professor at the University Master in Management and Development of Biomedical Technologies of the University Carlos III of Madrid, year 2016: Innovation in the pharmaceutical industry: Advanced medicines and Biotechnology. Professor in the Course of Specialization in Medical Chemistry of the CSIC, years 2014 and 2016.

His current research interests are mainly focused on the design, synthesis and development of new biologically active organic compounds as potential drugs and diagnostic tools for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
