New putative cannabinoid GPR55 ligands

GPR55 belongs to the GPCR superfamily and can be activated by both phosphatidylinositol and some cannabinoids. Its implication on the endocannabinoid system is being exhaustively studied and discussed. Regarding its phisiology, there are evidences that it plays an important role in the regulation of bone metabolism, on the inflammatory pain control and on tumour cells proliferation. Nowadays, lack of selective GPR55 agonists and antagonists makes difficult the biological evaluation of this receptor. Thus, this project deals with the design and synthesis of ligands for this new therapeutic target.
