Theoretical group of the Instituto de Química Médica (C.S.I.C.)

Our group is integrated by the following people:

Luis Miguel Azofra was born in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria in 1985. He obtained the Chemistry Degree in 2009 from the Universidad de la Laguna. At the present time, he is finishing a Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling in the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and he is a predoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Quimica Medica (CSIC) under the supervision of Prof. Ibon Alkorta.

Goar Sanchez

was born in 1979. He received is M.Sc from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid by the supervision of Manuel Alcami and Fernando Martin, in the study of carbon clusters triply charged. He obtained his PhD from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in 2010, under the supervision of Zoila Barandiaran in the study of ionic solids doped with divalent lanthanides. Nowdays, he is postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Quimica Medica (CSIC) with Prof. Ibon Alkorta.

Oscar Picazo

was born in Madrid in 1974 and obtained his chemistry degree from the Universidad de Alcala de Henares in 1998.

Ibon Alkorta

was born in Eibar (Basque Country) in 1963, obtained his PhD degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1990 and was a post-doctoral fellow with Dr Hugo Villar (Molecular Research Institute, Palo Alto, California, 1991-1993). He presently works at the Instituto de Química Médica as Profesor Científico.

José Elguero

was born in Madrid (Spain) in 1934 and received his PhD degree from the University of Montpellier (France) in 1961. He has worked in both the French CNRS and the Spanish CSIC where he is now Senior Research Scientist. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry, the Schutzenberg, Solvay and Ramón y Cajal Prizes. His specialities are heterocyclic chemistry and physical organic chemistry, fields in which he has published over 1000 papers.

Old members:
