Instituto de química médica del CSIC

Welcome to the Instituto de Química Médica

The Instituto de Química Médica (IQM)), founded in 1973, is part of the CSIC and belongs to the area of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. It is located at the Centro de Química Orgánica “Manuel Lora-Tamayo” (CENQUIOR) together with the institutes of Química Orgánica General (IQOG) and Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros (ICTP).
Research in the IQM focuses on the design and synthesis of potential new drugs along the major lines determined by national and international science policy, and in particular, those within the EU. The institute deals with multidisciplinary basic research and its aims are to provide new drug leads and to contribute to the identification of novel therapeutic targets. Key issues are the training of postgraduate students and cooperation with pharmaceutical companies.
