New intramolecular Be–Be bonds

Researchers of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Instituto de Química Médica (IQM-CSIC) have caracterized intramolecular one-electron Be-Be bonds in naphtalene derivatives. Surprisingly, the force of this monoelectronic bond is up to 10 times greater than the diatomic molecule Be2.
